Pastor Terry Jones of Florida and New York City construction worker Andy
Sullivan both want the issues of Islam and Sharia law addressed. However,
they are going about it in two very different ways.

Jones has gotten a great deal of press about the Koran burning that his
church held and about the mock trial for Muhammad. The reactions of
Americans seem to vary with some seeing Jones' actions as the exercise of
his free speech and an effort to bring home a point, to others viewing them
as irresponsible, insensitive, offensive, and ridiculous. Jones has
admitted that the purpose behind his motive has been to, "draw attention to
radical Islam," according to a
<http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2011/04/06/400-death-threats-follow-koran-bu
rning-preacher-to-oc/> Los Angeles CBS local article. While many may not
agree with Jones' methods, he has certainly been successful at achieving his
goal and at making a point: If a Muslim devoutly practices Islam and follows
the Koran exactly, Islam is not a peaceful religion. The deaths in
Afghanistan for which he is being blamed because of the riots it allegedly
brought on (never mind that the Middle East has been in meltdown mode
anyway) are an illustration of that as well as the cost of now having his
safety threatened through about 400 death threats. Jones has certainly paid
a high price for his right to exercise his free speech.

Another man who is exercising his right to free speech is New York
construction worker Andy Sullivan. Most recently, through a campaign aimed
at politicians that he calls the 911 Hard Hat Pledge
<http://911hardhatpledge.com/> . It includes an, "Anti-Sharia Oath, which
calls on signers to agree to actively protest and vote against Sharia and
Islamic law in the United States," according to One News Now
<http://www.onenewsnow.com/Culture/Default.aspx?id=1324620> on Wednesday.
But Sullivan was not shy last year to voice his opinion about the
controversial Mosque that is being built near ground zero. Many have called
the mosque insensitive, irresponsible, ridiculousand an offense to both
survivors and the memories of those who died when extremist Muslims took the
lives of thousands of men, women and children - without the advance warning
of a death threat. But Americans didn't go around randomly killing Muslims
living in America and rioting like some Muslims in Afghanistan have randomly
killed Christians and any Americans or representatives of America that they
could find.

When Sean Hannity interviewed Jones on his radio program this past September
about the Koran burning,Jones mentioned that he had been contacted by
military personnel who say that they stand with him regarding burning the
Korans. They expressed their deep dismay over rules that came down from
Washington which forced them to stand by as churches were burned and
hospitals with Christians in them were burned in the Muslim nations where
they were assigned.

When Hannity asked Jones if he was concerned about insulting the Muslim
group as a whole, Jones indicated that it wasn't his intention to insult
moderate Muslims, but he realized that they may take the Koran burning
personally. He added that being insulted really isn't a reason to back
down. After all, polls show that those who are building the ground zero
mosque are insulting the majority of America, but the Muslims pushing to
build the mosque (some of whom also have ties to extremist Hamas Muslims)
aren't changing their plans.

It's interesting to note cases regarding how our FBI has responded to
"extremist" Christian groups. One incident that comes to mind surrounds 9
extremist Christians who, last March, were accused of planning a military
style attack on an unnamed officer and a funeral procession in the hopes of
inciting an antigovernment uprising. This extremist Christian group called
themselves The Hutaree. And what did our FBI do when they got wind of this
radical activity? They confronted them. Period. The FBI personnel on the
case were more concerned for the future of the citizens of this nation than
they were about offending Christians as a whole or being politically
correct. And such a focus was appropriate.

A One News Now <http://www.onenewsnow.com/culture/default.aspx?id=1158854>
article from September of 2010 reported that "a greater Nashville resident
and outspoken opponent of the construction of a Murfreesboro mega-mosque in
Tennessee has received two death threats." If Sullivan has received any,
the media hasn't mentioned it, but Laurie Cardoza-Moore, who is the founder
and president of the organization Proclaiming Justice to the Nations, feels
that Islamic extremist activity should be causing all Americans some deep
concern, and she sites Europe as a model example of where extremist Muslims
want to take America: "Is that what we want for the United States of
America? Because look at what's happened to Europe, look at what's happened
in other countries where this has taken root. They are not here because
they want to enjoy our freedoms - they're coming to get us to submit to
Sharia law."

Another article that backs up what she is saying is a World Net Daily
<http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=212233> article from
October of 2010. "International Christian Concern Islam watcher Jonathan
Racho says that the increasingly large Western European Muslim community is
growing in militancy as well as in numbers."

Racho stated that, "If you go to places like the U. K. and France, some
cities in Sweden and Holland, you can already see some cities where Muslims
are very significant because of their numbers.

"In the U. K. there are some places where there are so many Muslims [that]
non-Muslims can't go there. They are called 'no-go' areas for non-Muslims.
Because of this, human rights violations are happening. We have reported
attacks on Christians in a neighborhood in the U. K. Evangelists were
stopped by the police for preaching the Gospel. The Muslim policeman stopped
them and said they couldn't preach in that area," he said.

Racho added that, "There's been some scary situations. I'm not trying to be
alarmist, but I'm just stating the facts. The situation is really bad for
Christians in some areas where Muslims are now in the majority in Europe."

Racho further explained that there are some communities in Europe where
Sharia law is practiced among Muslims and that, "It has become a significant
problem because the Muslim population in some Western European countries has
become very vocal."

He has noticed a pattern: once Sharia law is allowed to be in place, the
pressure placed on non-Muslims intensifies. He added that, "In some places
in Europe, the Muslims are calling for violence."

America's Muslim population is also growing. And with that, there seems to
be an increased demand among Muslims for more Mosques. However, Racho
admonishes Americans to take note of how the construction of Mosques relates
to the Islamic ideology. He cautions that, "Some Muslim groups use the
religious freedom of the United States to import a radical Islamic ideology.
This is a very radical ideology that is a threat to the national security of
the United States. US policy makers should continue to be vigilant about
Islamic groups in this country which come in the name of Islam and in the
name of religion and exploit the system,"

One key indicator that he pointed to is, "We have to make sure the money for
the mosques comes from forces who have no allegiance to radical Islam. That
is very important. We have seen reports that many mosques that are built by
Saudis teach very violent forms of Islam. There has to be a sense of
accountability because if we leave them free to spew their hateful
ideologies, we're going to pay the price. And the price is very costly"

Americans need to be aware of the fact that the "FBI estimates [that] 10% of
the mosques in the United States are associated with radical Jihadist
ideology. Others estimate that 80% of mosques are dominated by the
extremistWahhabi ideology promoted by Saudi Arabia. And they are allowed to
practice, under American principles of freedom of religion," according to
awww.americanthinker.com article in August (emphases added). In other words,
the FBI is also aware that there are "sleeper cells" connected to mosques in
America, which means that not only are these cells made up of Muslims
extremists, but many are military trained personnel who support jihad.

These facts are certainly cause for concern, but through the power of
prayer, the efforts of concerned citizens such as Andy Sullivan, and
Americans putting leaders in place who are willing to empower our military
to do what taxpayers pay them to do - protect our nation - America at least
has a chance of having its national security maintained.
