May 06, 2011 Taliban recruiter suspects arrested in UK VOA News May 5, 2011 A former Taliban fighter and his associates have been arrested in an undercover sting operation after they were found attempting to recruit others to fight for jihad, or holy war, according to Prosecutors in Manchester, England. Prosecutor Andrew Edis told the Manchester court that Munir Farooqi, his son Harris and two other men were part of an organized attempt to recruit people to train in Afghanistan. The 54-year-old Farooqi and his three associates worked in an Islamic bookstall in Manchester where they would try to recruit radicalized customers. They were arrested by undercover officers posing as possible candidates to train for jihad. All four men have denied the charges.
