Dear Pat, Peggy and Michael

I am truly thankful all of you for your kind help with this issue of
finding the effective ways to raise the level of awareness of the artists
community to the many possibilities that could emerge from improved
collaboration

I am sure that a genuine transformation can happen here given the right time
and place.

Thanks again

Dear Josef
You might want to communicate with Bill Cleveland. His email is HYPERLINK
"http://www.artandcommunity.com/index.html"http://www.artandcommunity.com/in
dex.html. He uses open space working with artists and communities to do
what you have described. I have found him to be quite skilled working with
open space and committed to creating the environment you have described. He
is a muscian himself. He is not on this list to my knowledge but has a email
connect on his website. I think you will find him quite knowledgeable,
committted and successful at achieving what you have described. There is a
post somewhere in the archives that Harrison posted from him. Good luck.

Dear Kerry

So far my experience is quite frustrating as the level of skepticism in this
region towards anything inclusive and open is rather high.

When I search the web, there is very little activity that's going on and a
recent symposium that was held on the subject of the current affairs in the
field of the visual arts, was held in the usual "know it all experts" style,
"explaining" the problems to the community of artists, who were sitting
quietly and listening to what those "experts" have to say.

Still, I believe that a good idea like OS will eventually prevail given some
time to familiarize with the concepts.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Josef

Open Futures did a series of events with the Scottish Arts Council.

In fact my first event was with 175 people to look at the future of

the theatre sector. It worked because the whole system (actors,

directors, administrators, companies across Scotland, funders and the

media) was in one room - a trolly shed converted into a gigantic

gallery.

The group established a new set of priorities including children's

theatre, which the Council wanted to promote but did not know how to

do. While the event was in 1997, people still talk about the change

that took place.

So, if you can get everyone who has an interest and stake in "the

artistic community," they will identify their key issues and find

ways to deal with them.

Good luck!

Kerry
