Hi Christine (and everyone)....
It was, indeed, a wonderful gathering.... in very large measure
because of so many incredible people from around the world and the
generosity of spirit that flowered there.
Thank you,Christine, for "showing up" as you did and thank you to all
our other friends, both in the World Cafe community and in kindred
networks
for having been of such mutual support over all these years in the
"common work" we are all doing on behalf of life affirming futures.
For those interested in having a bit more of the flavor, here's where
to go for more on the Stewardship Dialogue--some of the posts on the
blog are wonderful and very detailed about what happened there. Thank
you to Ria Baeck, Amy Lenzo, and Beth Alexander who helped put up
this blog. You'll need to go to the August Archives for the full set
of entries.
You can find the discussion of the Stewardship Dialogue and pictures
on the blog at: worldcafestewardship.wordpress.com/
OR, you can go to Flickr.com to: http://flickr.com/photos/worldcafe/
sets/ for some of the picture sets to give you a "feeling tone"
for what unfolded.
And, my very best wishes for the upcoming OS on OS. I know it will
be a great gathering as well!
Fondest regards,
Juanita Brown

Dear Open Space and World Cafe Friends,
Last week I had the great pleasure of attending The World Cafe
Stewardship Dialogue along with Peggy Holman, Tree Fitzpatrick,
Kenoli Oleari, Tenneson Woolf, Juanita Brown and other OSList
friends. And this weekend, I'll be traveling to Camden, Maine, for
the OSonOS by the Sea. I feel incredibly blessed to be partaking
of the many amazing connections in these two communities.
During the closing circle at the World Cafe Stewardship Dialogue, I
shared how much I was touched by the openness, joy and deep sense
of gratitude that permeated our time together. 80 people from 15
countries connected hearts, minds and spirits in deep cafe
conversations. And, to my delight, bodies were well cared for
too. Inspired by the musicians among us and our friends from
Brazil, we danced and hiked and climbed the hills around
breathtakingly beautiful Tomales Bay, CA.
In addition to the many commitments made by the World Cafe
Community members for stewarding TWC into the future, I know that
several For Benefit initiatives were launched or picked up steam.
I expect the same will be true when a small portion of the OS
community meets next week in Maine.
I'm struck by how beautifully the World Cafe community holds the
space open. And how the Open Space community has, for over twenty
years, invited people to host conversations that matter.
I believe the world is calling for us to work together. I'm
talking about those of us who practice in the field of open,
appreciative, strategic conversations and large scale social
change. We can consciously watch for opportunities to work
together for large scale impact. In the near future, we will know
which initiatives need and would welcome our help or which projects
WE want to initiate. The Open Space, World Cafe and Appreciative
Inquiry communities (among many other communities of practice) are
poised and we know how to self-organize. I can't wait to see what
will come calling.
Namasté,
Christine
