Chris, in response to your challenge, here is my submission to the 2nd Biannual OSLIST Restricted Form Poetry Contest:
TRANSFERENCE I ring the bells, I talk.... I walk... around a circle pregnant with skepticism and fear Open Space, open mind open spirit and let the process of osmosis, deeply permeate your soul. Sparkling chandeliers reflect the silent emotions onto ceilings, while bare, unpainted walls anticipate the tape invasion. Now engaged, the circle animates the Space, assumes control, assaults the walls - and silently I pray. Elisabeth M. La Fontaine CMP The Paragon Group Inc. #800 - 920 Yonge Street Toronto, ON. If you recall, the last contest called for poets to submit poems composed of words which started with each letter of the alphabet in sequence. This time, the form is a little more open, but still restrictive. Your task is to produce a poem relating to Open Space in four stanzas of four lines, each containing four words. The winner will be selected by a OSLIST wide vote. The winner will receive my much loved copy of the "Tao of Pooh", and the right to wear the mantle of the Poet Laureate. You will also receive the heavy responsibility of crafting the 3rd Biannual OSLIST Restricted Form Poetry Contest in six months time. Submissions can be made to me on or off list and the dead line is April 30, 11:59 Pacific Standard Time. To kick things off, here is my submission. It shouldn't be too hard to improve upon it. Good luck! Opening the dance I live my life in meeting rooms with bad lighting, awkward angles strange cities, obstructed views -- walking circles, sweeping my arms in gentle gestures awakening spirit like light trailing from my fingertips I prise open space great oceanic prairies that lie within people and grab reluctant hands, lead them to a dance floor and then I sit back, out of the way and watch. -- CHRIS CORRIGAN 108-1035 Pacific Street Vancouver BC V6E 4G7 Phone: 604.683.3080 Fax: 604.683.3036 (GO LEAFS GO!)
