Hello to new and old Open Space friends, I have been a reading member on this list for one and a half years. I have appreciated the postings, which I find to be thoughtful, thought provoking, informative, inspirational, and encouraging. I have found the quality of people associated with OS to be exceptional.
I attended OSonOS in Chicago in 1999, where I met some of you for the first time. My greetings to my "old" friends, those of you whom I have met and whose company I have greatly enjoyed through the sharing of meals, conversation, workshop sessions, dancing, or car commutes. I appreciate the authentic and heartfelt sharing. I had a chance to deepen those friendships and make even more new friends at a training with Birgitt (much belated Congratulations to Birgitt & Ward!) in North Carolina in October of '99. I regretted not being able to come to Berlin this past year. In November 2000 I attended the "Power Of Spirit" OS event presented by Harrison which was sponsored by the Cincinnati OD Network. It was a great opportunity to learn from Harrison, hear about the origins of OS first hand, and to experience Harrison facilitating an OS. I deeply appreciated the opportunity to have lunch with Harrison and have many questions answered. I came away form that event with Harrison's suggestion ringing in my ears, "just go and open space". I am coming to Open Space from a background in architecture, and Construction for 20 plus years. For the past 4 years I have been practicing conflict resolution and group process facilitation. I currently perform mediation in a variety of settings from divorce cases, neighbor disputes, small business disputes, and employment issues such as EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) cases with the US Postal service. I have applied the principles of Open Space in my life and work and I have been looking for opportunities to "formally" Open Space with a group. I was prompted to introduce myself at this time because I have my first facilitation of an OS event planned for March 31st and I thought it would be appropriate to introduce myself to the list prior to presenting my request for feedback. The event is entitled "Spirit At Work" . It is an ideal opportunity for a first Open Space facilitation. I am sending information about it in a subsequent email so as to maintain the integrity and congruency of the archive. I am a believer in keeping the email content congruent with subject / thread for easy future reference. With respect and appreciation, Albert Quote of the Day.....
