Hello all. I'm Jack Hawley, one of the old (literally and figuratively), first OSers from away back to UNH days--and I'm brand new to OSLIST, and enjoying it.
I'm also sorta new to the Internet (Old friend Harrison Owen came over to our house in S. California a million years ago to log me onto the Net, but I guess it didn't take.) Therefore, if I make any gaffs, please forgive them and chalk it up to rookie-ism. I know many of you personally, and have gotten good feedback from many of you regarding my first book: "Reawakening The Spirit In Work" (which I recently learned has become a "bestseller"). My new book "The Bhagavad Gita: A Walkthrough For Westerners" was just released. It's not an OS or OT book except in the cosmic sense, but it is a very straightforward, clear, high, spiritual book published by New World Library, Novato, Calif. Quoting from the pulisher's press release: "A Simple, Clear and Enjoyable Walk Through a Classic Scripture from India. "...[the author] 'walks us through' this classic scripture ... a translation in moving prose that reads as smoothly as a child's adventure tale." "The Bhagavad Gita is an epic mystical poem about life, death, love, and duty...To read it is to reach countless epochs back in time--yet, as Jack settled into these cobwebby teachings they felt strangely close and familiar." "...not theology or religion--it's a universal love song, sung by God to His friend man [humanity]. It can't be confined by any creed. It's a statement of the truths at the core of what we all already believe, only clearer, so those truths become immediately useful in our daily lives." For those of you who don't know me: The author's Bio in the press release describes me thusly: "... a management consultant, writer. President of JAH Associates, consultants in organizational respiriting. He, and his (now fully recuperated) wife Louise, spend six months each year studying and lecturing in an ashram in rural southern India. Hawley is an independent writer and speaker unaffiliated with any organization, ashram, or guru. His primary objectives are to stimulate new thought and behavior in the world and bring practical and accessible new ideas to individuals and organizations. [etc., etc., etc.] If you want to read more about the book go to the publisher's web site: newworldlibrary.com ---or, perhaps a bit cheaper, barnesandnoble.com or Amazon, Borders, etc. OD, OT, and now OS people are very close to my heart. I never miss the opportunity to tell people how important this "movement" (mostly in the business/organization world) is for our whole world! I am looking for ideas about how to help the publishers launch this new book. If you know any reviewers or media that could help get word of it out to many people, please let me know. Any and all ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for listening. I look forward to meeting some of you at OT-19 in July. Jack Hawley, Ph.D., Pres. John A.
