Every few days it seems I receive a note from somebody somewhere asking about OS training. Of course I do some programs, and I pretty well know at least some of the other folks who do the same, and will often pass the information along. But I am sure I miss some offerings, which is too bad both for the people who are doing the programs and folks who are looking. So I would ask that if you are planning a program that: 1) you announce it here on OSLIST. And 2) That you also send me a note – and I will list your program on www.openspaceworld.com. Sorry for the redundancy, but sometimes I just miss things. ☺
On the subject of training -- it is not rocket science. I would encourage anybody who feels so inclined to give it a shot. There are abundant resources and multiple designs, to say nothing of willing helpers if you feel you need help. Personally I can say that helping other folks along the road to Opening Space has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and for sure it is the best way to find out what you know and need to know. And as we all know it is really not about having a whole mess of knowledge. The process itself pretty well caries the day, so if you feel comfortable facilitating an Open Space, you are already well equipped to do a "Training Program." Lastly, an effective program need not be a large one. Frankly I find that working with 4-8 people to be a really rich experience -- and one-on-one is just mind-blowing.
