Hello, dear all - I mentioned in an earlier message that I shop for air tickets via cheaptickets.com
Chris wrote: <cheaptickets.com seems to provide me with some fairly expensive results. My recommendation is to check at http://www.aircanada.com and http://www.westjet.com for much cheaper tickets. At the moment, it seems like the airlines are offering seats from Vancouver to Halifax at less than half of what I saw quoted at cheaptickets.com. WestJet is our Canadian low cost carrier, meaning no movies or meals in flight but you get great service and funny jokes from the in flight crew. And the pilots all address themselves to you by their first names. And they sometimes load the plane by shirt colour rather than row number. If you can get yourself to Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver from overseas, consider these carriers' websites for domestic fares.> Thank you so much, Chris! Keep those ideas for lowering costs coming, folks, as there are some of us who operate on a very low income and every penny (or twonie) counts. ("Twonie" is the unofficial name for Canada's two-dollar coin -- the 'Loonie' is their one-dollar coin as it has an image of the bird called a 'loon' on it). I wanted to rename this item in case in a month or two any of you need to look for it in the archives when you are making your own travel arrangements. And for those of you seeking scholarships from funder organizations, you'll need to look up air costs sooner, knowing those costs could increase as we get closer to August. Keep those Access Queen ideas coming - your thoughtfulness on providing information and resources (and funding) for "Askers" could make the difference for some as to whether they/we can come to Halifax or not. Let's work on getting as many Askers to Halifax as we can...
