Definitely true.   And further, there is much talk about 'bottlenecks being
at the top of the bottle' in organizations.   Usually in a pejorative sense.
However, the narrowing serves a useful function, it allows for controlled flow
so that which is pouring forth doesn't scatter all over (whether liquid or
solid, like sand---or cat food) and remains in a focused mode.   Hence,
boundaries are useful.
