Hallo All, First of all I wish you a lot of pleasure in 2006.
I have some experience with The World Café in a classroom setting. It works great, exploring questions that realy matter to the students are explored, followed by planning for action. It would be nice to let students organise a World Café or Open Space around issues that matter at the university or in their environment. A few weeks ago I read a very good article of Egar Schein, about his experiences in a change management course for students. He describes the principles of Kurt Lewin and how he used them in his design for the course. Maybe the article will be useful to your friend Melinda (Ask her to join our OSList?)and perhaps for others too. It inspired me in several ways. You can find the article "Kurt Lewin's change theory in the field and in the classroom" at: http://www.solonline.org/res/wp/10006.html or you can download a pdf version at http://www.largescaleinterventions.com/english%20version/articles.htm All the best, Tonnie van der Zouwen -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: OSLIST [mailto:osl...@listserv.boisestate.edu] Namens Diane Brandon Verzonden: dinsdag 3 januari 2006 23:38 Aan: osl...@listserv.boisestate.edu Onderwerp: WC and OS in the classroom Hi All, A friend who teaches at the university here (UNH) (she also teaches at a local HS) recently experienced World Cafe and Open Space, both at a conference in Florida in December. She's thinking about using these tools in a new university course she's designing. Has anyone had experience with using WC or OS in a classroom setting? If yes, advice? You can reply directly to her: melinda Salazar <msala...@cisunix.unh.edu> if you prefer, but it would be interesting to read the responses here, if you are willing.
