To add to the conversation about discussions with clients: I have found more and more that in all "selling" discussions with potential clients, I am using the 'It may be that I am not the right person for you. I have some ideas of what might work for you. Let's talk and see what possibilities develop' approach. And then I let the client explore and in some cases, if we are right for each other, the client is persuading me. I am working at never being the needy one in those conversations. I find that it is a more mutually respectful conversation and more likely to be successful. Regards, Esther Sent wirelessly via BlackBerry from T-Mobile. Now that OST is happening all over Ontario and Canada on a fairly regular basis. I also get people (sometimes clients) saying that it did not work for them in their last experience. I know there are a few folks that do it quite differently than I do and sometimes that leads to these comments. Ive had others, who experienced OS from someone I respect, also say they do not want to use it (often with real intensity.) I hunch that for some of them, even a great OST experience scares them or challenges too many assumptions. They see strong emotions emerge, not all conversations have the same clarity or depth and they assume it can be done differently given all the processes they have experienced. They prefer processes they can control. They realize they cannot control OST now they have experienced it. Sometimes that is because OST is not appropriate for what they want to do and accomplish in their meeting. They are looking for particular outcomes or action that they want to shape. For traditional results oriented people, it sometimes does that give them the results they want in the time frames they are willing to give. So, I will respond by either teasing out what it could be like from my experience agree that OST is not the process for that particular sponsor.
