Dear friends and colleagues, I wanted to share my sadness onlist. One of Russia's bravest journalists, Anna Politkovskaya, was murdered at her home the other day.
Politkovskaya was known for her reporting on Chechnya and did her work at great risk to her life. The kind of work she did was not the silent presencing that we have been discussing in the past few days. That was not how she worked, but it was the kind of work which few others were willing to commit themselves to. I invite you to hold her in her thoughts. Her funeral will be at 2pm Moscow time (11am GMT) October 10th.
