Dear Ted,
I always have evening news after the breakoutsessions are over.
In the morning, its a different kind of event - morning announcements -
and it just happens as the group gathers...usually takes 7-12 minutes if
you stick to the announcement character...which is really different from
evening news that can take very long but no longer than the time alloted
for it (in case it is not over for some they can continue, of course).
In the events I facilitate evening news is usually half an hour but I
have heard that some take much longer....
cheers
mmp

Yes, I can do this, Doug. What I lose doing this is the people that
aren't in open space sessions when we start evening news. Some people
may be taking part in paper presentations or other exciting events that
the conference provides. Of course your plan is better than nothing.
:-) So we'll see what they give me. The good news is that the
conference is not planning on having evening events, so it seems
possible to simply do evening news immediately following the end of
sessions. We'll see.

Ted--
How about being a brazen subversive and do them both?
For instance reserve the usual length for the last session of the day,
then within the session announce that the actual breakout time is half
that, the rest will be in one group.
Seems to me that the reflection time is of the greater value, and the
starting time together will happen on its own, so you have both.
