Dear all,

Last week I was in Paris and I had the pleasure of meeting Alain de Vulpian,
one of the great sociologists of our time. He is 83 years old but still
active and challenging sharp in his work. Alain is a specialist in
longitudinal research on social-cultural developments. His work shows us
humanity's on-going process of civilisation, for instance by asking the same
questions about everyday life to ordinary people for more than 50 years. He
presents dynamics in auto-organisation of a new social fabric in a very
systemic way. One of the developments he describes is more openness to
sensations and emotions. He is busy writing a book, but hopes to find time
to finish an article for the October Issue of the COS-journal
<http://www.cos-journal.com/> . This article will be about the consequences
of developments in socioperception and empathy for leadership and
organisational performance.

Alain opens space for ordinary people (which we all are) in his own way. I
didn't realise this until Susanne Daigle commented on my post on LinkedIn
today and asked me to share his ideas on this List. We have found great
wisdom in his article 'Listening to ordinary people'
inary%20people.pdf> . Free pdf download.

I am sorry I will not be able to join you in the WOS on OS in Florida. Wish
you a great meeting.

Tonnie
