HI Suzanne,

Recently I have come to understand that Open Space (big O, big S) is really an "emergency procedure" for when the open space (small o, small s) seems to be fading...this is completely consistent with what Harrison says about those principle and the law and all, namely: "those principles and that law are always operating, with or without those posters."

...Consider the OST requirements:

1. /Complexity/, in terms of the tasks to be done or outcomes achieved;
2. /Diversity/, in terms of the people involved and/or needed to make
   any solution work;
3. /Conflict, real or potential/, meaning people really care about the
   central issue or purpose; and
4. /Urgency/, meaning that the time to act was "yesterday".

So lately, I've come to understand that we are executing an "emergency procedure" to reopen what is now closing, yet used to be open...at least for a little while.

I love this work.

Daniel

Bravo Dan,

You are living your journey with such passion, belief and hard work. It is at the heart of Open Space, a critical issue and big purpose, inviting others who also care to do what needs to be done, step by step. It inspires me in my own work and makes me feel very grateful that because of your drive and all who are joining in, more and more people will experience Open Space and will put their own leadership to good use because it awakened something deep inside of them. Very exciting, congrats!

In the same breath, I also celebrate on a smaller scale that some folks who attended the International House annual gathering in New York with Karen and Harrison, (at least 3 who I've heard from) are now facilitating and/or hosting their first Open Spaces with small groups and large groups.

From Agile to Iceland to Poland, to the first Virtual Open Space on Open Space in July, etc. etc. etc. there is so much happening -- some that we know about and much that we don't.

    Greetings All,

I've been a little too quiet lately...been working "like a rented
mule" to complete a total renaming/rebranding of Open Agile Adoption.

(We needed to change the name due to a collision with another
    existing trademark, so we did.)

The new name is OPENSPACE AGILITY (two words) and the all-new web is:
    http://OpenSpaceAgility.com

The entire aim of OpenSpace Agility (OSA) is to show client
organizations how to save time, effort, heartache, and money
    inside their Agile adoptions.

How? By employing Open Space to improve FAST....by triggering and
igniting the true source of high performance, which is:

    SELF ORGANIZATION

Some highlights of this web site include:

OSA BIG PICTURE DIAGRAM. It has 42++ clickable sections, click a
section to investigate the story behind it...take a look!

    I invite your feedback!!

    I am asking for help:

      * Will you please post the link http://OpenSpaceAgility.com to
your Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and other social media, send
        others over to investigate?
      * Will you send me any typos, broken links etc (send me the URL
        and the item you find?)

Large organizations with very slow-to-move cultures are using this
method to get movement. And they are GETTING IT.

To date, the largest Open Space events arranged in client-orgs
using this method had opening-circle seating for over 400++.

The Agile community is beginning to really embrace this.

We have been invited to join the AGILE COACH CAMP USA in DC July
31-Aug2, and give a 1/2 workshop following that event.

everal of us from here are attending that ACC/DC event!

We will also be teaching Open Space and OSA at the Agile
    conference Aug 3-7.

All in all, not too bad. Things are moving!

learn the method the next class is July 22-23 in Cambridge, MA.
