If you switched on that "Turn on screen" in cycle settings, it means that OsmAnd needs extra Android authorisations. It therefore means that it needs to be installed, or later raised to "Device administrator(s)", what you might have done for OsmAnd.
Check your Settings -> Security -> Device administrators. (It might be slightly different named depending phone and android version). If OsmAnd is a "device administrator" switch it off and try again. Also check whether possible other "device administrators" might have an influence on the screen behavior. If it is not this I would simply uninstall and re-install. Don't forget to save your favourites first.
