The arrow in the white box is the lane assistance. On the road they show how many lanes go in your direction (if the lanes=N attribute is mapped in OSM), near a junction it shows you all the turn:lanes, such as left|through|through|slight_right, again if they are mapped.
the feature is extremely helpful in particular in navigation mode. You can switch it off in Settings -> Navigation settings -> Profile specific -> Show alerts -> Lanes.
