Of course, if they did install Fatah as the Palestinian
leadership, they'd probably go right back to undermining Fatah just
like they did before.
I think the only real leadership of Palestine that would
satisfy Israel would be utterly docile and subservient, and I don't
think either Hamas or Fatah will ever be sufficiently so for them.
Israel has continuously kept up aggression and pressure on
Palestine -- it is just that they like to keep up the heat, but not
let it boil over into an actual hot war. Hamas made it boil over --
but Hamas is not what has been keeping the pressure and heat on over
the last few decades.
