Did you miss the cut from shooting properly to being a dumb reporter?  
The live-ammo shots were from one side of the shield and the silly  
ones were from the other. There wasn't a cut as much as the cameraman  
stopping filming and setting up the second shot. That's where she  
changed the real live gun for a prop (or a safe unloaded and certified  
gun, whatever).
