I disagree. These are precisely the sorts of the areas where the US
is ready to lead (well, at least where Obama wants to put the US into
a position of being able to lead). Our health care sucks, our
education system is one of the best in the world, but only at the top
levels (yes, it is, there's a reason people come here for their
graduate studies). We used to have excellent food-safety before we
gutted the USDA inspection programs under Reagan, etc. etc.
