Got to take you at your word on that. I haven't done side by sides.
I've just never had a phone in my hand that produced photos anywhere
near as good as those from an aging Sony DSC T9.

I'll concede though, that an in-phone camera could in theory be vastly
better than the iphone but significantly worse than the DSC T9, for
certain values of "vastly"...
