Mary, and others, I've inserted a link for the Belmont University OT website
below. I just learned over the weekend that they are beginning a new
distance learning program. This new program is for COTA's. It is an
entry-level master's degree. To be admitted, you must have at least 90 hours
of coursework completed. The classes are on a quarter basis, and the entire
program takes 24 months, including 6 months of fw. These courses are
scheduled to begin in the fall. Graduates will not receive a bachelor's,
instead they will receive an entry-level master's.
The other distance learning program, already up & running, is a
post-professional master's degree. This is for therapists who are practicing
and want to continue their education. The individual running this program is
my advisor, and she is an excellent teacher. I also personally know someone
enrolled in the program, and she is really enjoying the experience. I am not
sure how long this program takes. I believe that there are currently two
areas of focus: pediatrics and education, and they are trying to develop a
geriatrics program as well.
For anyone interested in contacting the directors or professors at Belmont,
please e-mail me privately and I will be glad to put you in touch with them.
Please let me know if I can answer any other questions. Good luck! -Amber
