We don't have any unified system in the US for paying for those. There is a
group called Independent Living that sometimes pays for some of those here in
Mississippi, but the last I heard they were very backed up and did not have a
carpenter. So it is just a patchwork of self pay, small grants, private
charity, some special government funded projects. My father in law is
retired and he makes WC ramps for people from his church who need them. The
WC user and or the church pay for the materials. This may seem like an
inferior way of doing things to our UK readers, but I personally am in favor
of limited government. Remember the government has no money except what it
collects from the taxpayers. -- Jody
