We are presently using the "Safe Hip" brand protector available from Alimed
in the US. Our population is long-term care, and they are utilized for our
recurrent fallers when other fall/injury prevention methods have not been
successfull. We currently have about 4 individuals using them. We order
two pair per person so one pair is always available should one garment
become soiled. Staff have seemed to understand their use and they have been
utilized successfully, no hip fractures with these persons as of yet.

I belive the Finish studies utilized a "KPH" brand hip protector, but I have
not been able to find this item commercially available.

Would be glad to answer any further questions.

As an aside, look for the March 2002 issue of Topic in Geriatric
Rehabilitation for the results of our facilities successful fall prevention
program.
