Biraj states: "At the same time Mike is to be admired for having the courage to take a
singular (and unpopular) position which urges us to reflect on political and national
positions our politicians commit us to internationally. I doubt if anyone on this
listserv since this past Tuesday has even thought of the words "foreign policy" that
Mike refers to. Basically Mike's post urges us to be reflective."

I must disagree with several aspects of your post. I think many of us have thought of
why this happened, and what policies we have that may have contributed to other's
feeling justified in taking this action. I think that pointing it out now, while
bodies are still being recovered from the multiple crash sites, is like looking at a
person with an amputation the first time they see the severed limb and saying - "You
know, your smoking and cheating on your diabetic diet is why you ended up with this
amputation." While the statement may be true (and I happen to disagree with aspects
of Mike's philosophy), the timing of its presentation has a great impact on how it is
received. Now is the time for support, not accusation.
