Depending on the patient's abilities, probably the best strengthening you can do for this person is to engage them in occupations of daily living. For example, if the client is too weak to stand and pull up their pants, then work on standing. Or if the client is to weak to walk to the toilet then build their strength by walking. In other words, specifically work on the occupations which are limited by the client's decreased strength.
