For me, this isn't really a debate about PT ~vs~ OT, it's about
functional mobility ~vs~ gait training. There is an difference between
these two approaches, but I'm not sure that difference is clearly
definable.

Regarding this list not being an educational tool, well it's up to the
people on here to post educational information. I post topics which
interest me and I encourage every member on here to do the same. This
list can be almost anything we want it to be.

Thanks,

Ron

BW> Myself, I feel as though this is when PT and OT become a team and tackle
BW> these things together. I work on functional transfers starting with stand
BW> pivot and try to build on those skills daily. If it is important to the
BW> patient, and that's their central focus, then I feel it is my job to assist
BW> with regaining those skills. I am not going to step on PT's toes in any
BW> way...I am pleased to say that as a first year student my PT coworkers have
BW> been very instrumental in my understanding of PT vs. OT and only wish that
BW> all facilities could find a way to build a team rather than look for any
BW> excuse to draw the line in the sand. My coworkers are very secure in their
BW> role and we work together for the good of the patient. I don't want to sound
BW> like a newbie with rose colored glasses on, I just feel blessed that I get
BW> to work closely with PT and we are able to get our patients the holistic
BW> treatment they so need and deserve...
BW> I love this list, I look forward to reading it, but it seems that it always
BW> comes back to the PT vs OT debate rather than the educational tool I was
BW> looking for when I signed up. I would love to hear from some practitioners
BW> that share my experience...am I alone in this???
