What is your Department of Physical Therapy a department of? I trained
in the Department of Occupational Therapy in the University of Alberta,
Faculty of Rehabilitation. PT, OT and Speech all rehabilitation
therapists.
We took a lot of our basic courses together.
Indeed I know quite a few therapists who were cross trained in school
and opted for one or the other discipline in their final semester. I
think the University of British Columbia was the last school in Canada
to give up complete dual training.
Is there a similar history in the US?
Many of the Canadian OT departments are now departments of Occupational
Therapy and Occupational Science and many are in a larger grouping of
Rehabilitation. I think U of A is the only freestanding Faculty of
Rehabilitation but there are Divisions of Rehabilitation or something
similar in Faculties of Medicine.
Is this also true in the UDS?
