Seconded (from the pkgsrc viewpoint). The real issue seems to be that people working on projects don't realize that the broader audience runs code that's been packaged from actual releases, not the latest from git -- even though almost all useful contributions come from those who build from git. This has always been an issue, but it seems worse with git culture.
