Eventuell wegen der anderen Fehlermeldung irgend eine Idee?!

und dann mysql neu starten.
mysqladmin variables|grep max_allowed_packet
sollte dann den neuen Wert ausgeben. Ggf mit
mysqladmin variables -u root -p |grep max_allowed_packet
