This is a little SuSE specific. Apache2 on SuSE uses the /etc/sysconfig/apache2 file to build /etc/apache2/sysconfig.d/loadmodule.conf on starting Apache.. If your configuration does not do this you need to enter something like.. LoadModule perl_module <path to apache2 modules>/mod_perl.so somewhere...
