The problem I had getting to the Dallas area via Spectrum IPv6 a few weeks ago was resolved. It might be worth a few moments to double-check your native IPv6 service. /mark ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Wed, 17 May 2023 23:02:35 +0000 From: Scott Wrosch <sco...@rbogeek.com> To: Outages Discussion <outages-discussion@outages.org> Subject: Re: [Outages-discussion] NTT - High Latency between Dallas and LA exchanges Message-ID: <bl1pr22mb358889d2ae71eca4c3b08f5bce...@bl1pr22mb3588.namprd22.prod.outlook.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" I?ve definitely been seeing issues in game, coming from the Detroit area. tracert 204.2.29.90 Tracing route to 204.2.29.90 over a maximum of 30 hops 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 2 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.254 3 2 ms 1 ms 1 ms 23-117-52-1.lightspeed.livnmi.sbcglobal.net [23.117.52.1] 4 2 ms 5 ms 60 ms 71.151.213.64 5 * * * Request timed out. 6 9 ms 7 ms 7 ms 12.83.32.129 7 13 ms 15 ms 15 ms cgcil402igs.ip.att.net [12.122.133.161] 8 51 ms 56 ms 60 ms 192.205.32.194 9 59 ms 58 ms 61 ms ae-4.r23.chcgil09.us.bb.gin.ntt.net [129.250.4.239] 10 56 ms 56 ms 55 ms ae-1.r24.snjsca04.us.bb.gin.ntt.net [129.250.5.17] 11 116 ms 110 ms 111 ms ae-4.a00.scrmca03.us.bb.gin.ntt.net [129.250.7.57] 12 111 ms * 111 ms xe-0-0-5-0.a00.scrmca03.us.ce.gin.ntt.net [128.241.2.18] 13 * * * Request timed out. 14 110 ms * 110 ms 204.2.29.90 Trace complete. Are the source/dest on-net with NTT or are one or both sides behind another carrier? What time(s) is this an issue - all the time or just certain times of day? Specifically, it seems to be the hop between ae-1.r20.dllstx14.us.bb.gin.ntt.net<http://ae-1.r20.dllstx14.us.bb.gin.ntt.net> and ae-2.r24.lsanca07.us.bb.gin.ntt.net<http://ae-2.r24.lsanca07.us.bb.gin.ntt.net>, where there's observed latency increases of about 60-70 ms. This was raised to my attention through the Final Fantasy XIV community, where East Coast and Central US players are experiencing high jitter. Curious if this is affecting anyone else's traffic. _______________________________________________ Outages-discussion mailing list Outages-discussion@outages.org<mailto:Outages-discussion@outages.org> https://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/outages-discussion -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I've run into this as well and NTT has let me know that AT&T is refusing to upgrade their peering ports in places where there is congestion. I doubt that contacting AT&T will be fruitful in persuading them to change their mind, so my recommendation is to use another carrier to reach AT&T customers.
