Apple wants an horrendous amount to even look at his iMac. > If this is a possibility, what other bits would be required? In the network pref pane choose the internal modem and then select the last tab along, called modem. The popup menu lists hundreds of compatible modems. My Netcomm wasn't on the list, but worked with just about every selection I bothered trying. I've also used a Telstra NT1 Plus ISDN modem through USB. Try googling "mac usb 56k modem" to see what is out there. I found http://www.palaeographics.com.au/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Palaeographics.woa/1/wa/ cat?wosid=NiI7thm8PiYWQvKwAA6E30&cat=1000974 pretty quickly, but I'm sure there are cheaper sources. James
