We are currently looking for a Operations Engineer to be responsible for:
Direct the development, configuration, and implementation of new systems.
Modify, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot existing systems. Evaluate
current systems-related strategies; recommend changes to achieve client
goals. Work with vendors to install new systems. Analyze and resolve
operating systems and applications issues on various systems. Generate and
maintain reports and documentation. Perform recovery of hardware and
software. Research and evaluate new technologies, products, and services,
and recommend acquisitions and modifications as they relate to client
application needs. Coordinate resource usage in a large production
environment to facilitate process efficiency and project turnover. Provide
consultation and guidance to management and end users regarding the planning
of future additions, modifications, and site developments. Serve as subject
matter expert in technical issues. Review standards for hardware, software,
and applications to ensure compliance with strategic direction.'

*Operations Engineer. Responsibilities include:*


Monitor and analyze the performance and operations of a complex search,
database related Batch Jobs comprised of many large Unix servers.
Recommend and coordinate changes, enhancements and optimizations to software
configurations, automated jobs, to improve performance and stability of
complex, n-tier systems environment.
Write scripts that perform optimizations and automation of daily batch jobs.

Liaise with external groups (sysadmins, DBAs, network engineers, build team)
and coordinate joint projects where necessary.
Train programmers-on-call how to monitor, diagnose and remedy problems.


*Required Skills:*


   - Broad experience (5-10 years) in the physical design and deployment of
   complex distributed Unix/Windows based batch systems particularly with
   Autosys.
   - Demonstrable success managing 24x7, high-performance computing
   environments.
   - Strong Unix and shell scripting skills, ideally including ksh (or bsh)
   and Perl.
   - Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and Microsoft T-SQL with a propensity to
   learn more.
   - Good interpersonal skills, communication skills, and documentation
   skills.
   - Willingness to take ownership of a product solution in a holistic
   sense, not drawing lines at the network, apps or physical hardware.
