Marc, There two "flavours" of NSX.
One that supports only vsphere - NSV-v And a flavour that currently supports vsphere and kvm - NSX-t On kvm it utilises ovs. Speak to your VMware rep to find more details. At OpenStack summit we had a demo of NSX-t with Redhat, and a demo of NSX-to with kubernetes. If you want the links to the YouTube videos let me know.
