Since you want to do some changes to openvswitch, you should clone the ovs repository from here - https://github.com/openvswitch/ovs.git and follow the instructions from here - https://github.com/openvswitch/ovs/blob/master/Documentation/intro/install/general.rst Also openvswitch-2.11.7 is very old.
