Great, you sound like a beta tester! How does one talk to the i2c in your case? Which module? Is there any example code?

My impression is that i2c application depends on the actual hardware. Are there any known PC devices using the DS2482? If nothing else, it certainly will be difficult to test without a device. The DS2482 looks less sophisticated than the USB DS2490, on par with the serial DS2480B. It has 8 one-wire outputs, but can only manage one at a time. Are you just curious, or do you have an application?
