I recompiled the latest packages yesterday, but I haven't tried them myself though.

Can't tell about 2.7p29, but generally speaking, you can build owfs without problems on the SLUG itself when you run Debian/NSLU2 (Lenny). I have done that in the past with owfs-2.7p26 and older versions. Fell free to call me on the phone, if you like.
