I would love to jettison the libtool/autoconf/automake system for anything
more transparent!
I just upgraded Ubuntu and am now plagued by
mv -f .deps/compat.Tpo .deps/compat.Plo
mv: cannot stat `.deps/compat.Tpo': No such file or directory
make[5]: *** [compat.lo] Error 1
...
The damn system is fragile, baroque and limiting.
I can't afford the time to learn a new system and do the conversion,
however.
