should show if there are any startup issues and if the messages are
getting through.

I kept trying a bit and tried a USB to serial converter cable (board has
USB master). And, hooking up the 1-wire serial cable there... and using
/dev/ttyUSB0, things started working, relief.

I then moved back to original RS232 DSUB9 connector, and tried the debug
option:

[root@FriendlyARM /]# arm-linux-owserver --debug -d /dev/ttySAC0 -p 8888
DEBUG MODE
libow version:
        2.8p15
  DEBUG: ow_daemon.c:(167) main thread id = 1073861424
   CALL: ow_parsename.c:(98) path=[]
DEBUG: owlib.c:(82) Globals temp limits 0C 100C (for simulated adapters)
DEBUG: ow_ds9097U.c:(279) Attempt 0 of 3 to initialize the DS9097U
DEBUG: ow_ds9097U.c:(368) Send the initial reset to the bus master.
DEBUG: ow_tcp_read.c:(64) attempt 1 bytes Time: 5.000000 seconds
CONNECT: ow_tcp_read.c:(110) TIMEOUT after 0 bytes
DEBUG: ow_ds9097U.c:(461) Failed first attempt at resetting baud rate
of bus master /dev/ttySAC0
DEBUG: ow_tcp_read.c:(64) attempt 1 bytes Time: 5.000000 seconds
CONNECT: ow_tcp_read.c:(110) TIMEOUT after 0 bytes
DEBUG: ow_ds9097U.c:(466) Failed second attempt at resetting baud rate
of bus master /dev/ttySAC0
  ...

I wonder if the board or Bios has somehow fixed some setting of this
serial port, causing owserver to fail.

Anyhow, will try with also with a new breakout board for ttySAC1 or ttySAC2.

BTW - Cross compiling this and getting it up and running was some effort.
Would you be interested in copying my notes to suitable install/setup page
(cross compiling)?

Will continue with my project now, which is about controlling heating and
ventilation in my new house.
