So you're looking for a way to pipe OWFS data into XBMC? Should that be a OWFS configuration task or XBMC? Do they have an API for their data sources?
I think it does not require any owfs modifications. Actually there are two types: plugins and scripts and now I think that it is a script that can show some data.

Maybe it could use pythnon owfs api or for now just read the filesystem.
I will read it and report back.
As for XBMC. I'm using Xbian http://xbian.org/ but it runs as well on Ubunut.
