Wow I thought I was the only energy monitor nerd around.  Apparently there is a
lot of interest in this area.  I plan to use one wire for temp A/C control with
a Rpie and have already built that circuit but have been also working on
monitoring the AC meater.  for you EU folks there is a site which has
information on the subject and supplies, software for the Audrino and now I see
articles for the Rpie I ordered a couple of CT clamps from their links here is
one of their monitoring schemes
This can be achieved with the following circuit which consists of two main
parts:
        1. The CT sensor and burden resistor
        2. The biasing voltage divider (Rvd)
the link is http://openenergymonitor.org/emon/.
I use the Commoncost to monitor my meter in the US and have dealt with
http://www.simpleenergyworks.com
They sell all the US based power monitor stuff and will sell the commoncost CT
at $ 20 each, free shipping in US.  These are pretty good folks who are not
afraid of getting on email to help you with any problems.
For the EU I think you can get a commoncost CT on the EU version of amazon.com
Using the commoncost unit showed me the time my AC unit was on and off one wire
gave me the temps spreads and pointed to a bad thermostat temp spread.  This
paid for the cost of the unit as the local repair folks could not find anything
wrong except hi electric cost.
The common cost unit dose not take induction power factor which all purist want
but it is real close.  From a pure engineering point of view the open energy
folks do it right but you have to mod it for US 240 volts stuff. The Env R unit
for the US runs about $ 129.00 and the network bridge which send your stuff to
a web site is $ 65 so about $ 200.00
one year unit is free on the internet about $ 36.00 a year for up to 10
monitors. Worth a look.
I sure hope we get others to follow up on this area as we all can learn
something in both the power monitor and temperature areas.
Jim

I see - you're buying AC/AC CTs. I just buy DC current or voltage output.
Needn't mess with it.

yes would make sense, but then again these clamps are much cheaper then any
other I've found.
