Hello!
According to an applications note concerning the part and one person's
efforts, the counter functions are supposed to work on it, when the
external input lines are indeed switched, probably indeed grounded.

Can someone independently confirm that? The application note is AN3845.

>From that perspective I was indeed able to confirm what I was doing
before, is indeed correct. However it bothers me that the software
originally written for everything else and well before Windows Seven
confirms it by simply complaining about no device when the switch is
open.

I want to confirm that the whole business works before handing the
connector a DS9097U-9 to my running Linux system. (Which I'll need to
have built everything for it first....)
