Which sensor do you use? Besides the T-Probe-Pipe sensor, they all can
be used as a powered device, too. Just apply +5V to Pin 2 of the RJ45
connector.
If you have the T-Probe-Pipe, you are out of luck and have to build an
external cache or rewrite your time-critical application that way it has
owlib called in another thread to avoid stalling.

The core of owfs is mainly the work of Paul Alfille, some other authors
have written bindings for their favourite language or their home-brewn
hardware.
Others like me just enjoy using owfs for their own projects and try to
be helpful with giving something back to the people.
