I use Thunderbird with Lightning for several weeks from now and it
(CalDAV at least) works very well with OC (git version).
I have some troubles with CardDAV and the Thunderbird addressbook
synchronizer module but I think it comes from my server (private SSL
certificate).

I was just made aware of the fact that the SOGO connector is now
updated for Thunderbird 10:
http://www.sogo.nu/english/downloads/frontends.html
So this means that it's finally possible to sync carddav contacts with
thunderbird.
