Do a normal pretty-print without adding A to the list of preserve space
elements. You will obtain:
<A ID="1" REF="2">
<B>foo</B>
<C>bar</C>
</A>
so the errors will point to the correct lines. You will remove the extra
spaces later when you process the document.
