I tried your <sect1> fragment with <oXygen/> 6.1, Java 1.5.0_04 and I get
<div class="mediaobject">
<img src="figures/foo.gif">
</div>
Please post a complete XML document that shows the error when I try it
with <oXygen/> 6.1.

Attempted that, problem persists. After much testing, current fix is to
utilize xml:base="foo"
Seems an xml:base placeholder will result in correct relative img src paths
for html transformations.
Don't know how that will affect pdf and rtf transformations.
Very strange.
