Hi David,
I can confirm that the final 18.1 release will force the association of
Markdown files opened in Oxygen with our MarkDown editor.

Ah, found it:
Options->Preferences->File Types
and then change editor for .md extensions.
Probably previous association for .md extension wasn't changed during
install.
