Hello Espen,
If you want to validate against an RNC and decide to do so using a
validation scenario, then in the scenario configuration dialog you
should not choose Saxon-EE.
Leave <Default Engine> as the validation engine and
choose/specify the RNC file in the last column.
Alternatively, the RNC can be associated directly in the document
to be validated and then the automatic validation should work
fine.
However, any other validation scenario previously configured and
associated with the document in question should first be
disassociated (at least temporarily).
This is because validation via validation scenarios takes
precedence.

I now get an error message when I try to validate -
whether by setting the schema from the drop down menu
or from the dov´cument header:

I have seen that this also was a problem with
some earlier versions of Oxygen, but I cannot
come around the problem with the solutions given
then.
I am using the newest version as far as I can
discover:
<oXygen/> XML Editor 27.0, build

Can anyopne help here?
